I have read countless articles on the history of stickers and you probably have too. So instead, I’d like to share with you a little more information about Next Day Label Printing.com that is not anywhere else on this web site. I have been in the printing business since 1977 and started my own print shop in 1984. Like all other small print shops in those days, I would take on just about any job that came my way. Labels and stickers were always a regular item being printed in one form or another. So I suppose you could say I too have a long history of sticker printing in my past.
I didn’t want to jump right into digital printing in the early days. It just seemed like press technology was changing so fast, the equipment you would buy today would be obsolete tomorrow! So I waited and just continued running short run orders on label sheets that I could print on my offset presses. Then came the digital presses that I could feel confident would be around for a while. In May 2010 the first digital press arrived and it gave me the ability to instantly print full color labels on a variety of label materials.
Orders for labels did not make up a large portion of the jobs I was doing at that time but it was a nice start. However, there were limitations for short run label orders. I could only square cut the labels or try to find a pre-made die cut sheet. Lamination and coating machines were also too expensive to consider for the occasional job and those pre-made die cut sheets only came in packages of 100 press sheets.
By 2015, the need to search for equipment that could handle finishing options such as die cutting, laminating and coating became a priority. I was handling requests for label printing jobs on a regular basis now. A machine that could contour cut a custom shape on the press sheets was found and a new era in short run label printing was born. Any shape you could create a die line for could be cut up to 11” x 17” with the new contour cutter. Turning out 1,000 small custom size 1-1/3” circles was now easy. Need a label shaped like a car? No problem with your die line! As short-run label order volume continued to rise, a coater was installed so I could add gloss or matte coating that would project the label finish better.
That leads us to Next Day Label Printing.com It’s a division of SLB Printing Inc. but the company name is more in line with our motto and goal of delivering printed labels in 1 work day or less. Same people, same great quality that you always expect, just a new name to celebrate the start of Stickers and Next Day Label Printing.com. Welcome!
